Lets Talk

Just a quick post to let you all know a few things regarding interacting with me while I'm here. The biggest one is that I am attempting to switch the comment system for this blog (and my main blog when I get home if it goes well) over to a cool system called Disqus from disqus.com. So test it out for me! If you aren't already a member of Disqus, but you will have to sign up below, but it is as easy as an email address and your name--you don't even have to leave this blog! Plus you'll then have access to all Disqus has to offer, if you're interested. (The main feature is being able to login to diqus.com and see all your various Disqus blog comments around the web in one place) It will also enable those of you with webcams to leave me video comments!

The other cool thing I have tried with a few people since I've been here is video-chatting. If you have a webcam or built-in camera on your computer, we can video-chat relatively easily using either iChat (primarily for Mac users) or Skype. You can download Skype for free from skype.com. Be sure to go into your options (or "preferences" for Mac) and enable the video option! I obviously can't do this with everyone and can only do it when I'm near an internet connection, but I'm pretty sure a lot of you don't even have webcams so we should be fine!

In other news, the website is going really well. Check out the new revamped Media section and especially the photo gallery. Click on the pictures to expand them once you are inside one of the albums! I spent two and a half days on that. We're almost done with the whole project!

Next week all four of us Americans will probably travel to Kerala to the east. I am very excited about that. Kerala is very beautiful and something like 80% sustainable! But even cooler, it is the site of where the Apostle Thomas landed and carried the Gospel to India. A group of Christians, called Thomas Christans, survived there for 1,500 years without contact with the Western Church until the Portuguese arrived to evangelize them and found out they were already Christians! No wonder that state is by far the most populated by followers--like 20%! (Side note: When I leave to catch my flight from India, I will hopefully stop by Thomas' grave site in Chennai, too!)

The week after next, I am possibly leaving again, but on a week-long outreach, traveling from village to village. I'll get to go with the guys from the Bible School! I'm excited.
